Boardgames To Go 209 - Post-BGGcon 2022 (with Rick Byrens and Brian Murray)

Please join us on the Boardgames To Go discord server where you can chat online with other podcast listeners.

One more episode about BGGcon! Can you tell I was excited to return? During the con itself I recorded several daily mini-episodes with Greg Pettit (by the end they weren't so mini!). In those we talked about several of the games we played, though not all. If you want to see ALL of the games I played, they're posted on their own geeklist. Everyone knows I prefer lighter/shorter board & card games. Not exclusively, but that's my kind of game. It shows in my lists of games played. That's part of the reason I invited two other gamer-buddies onto this episode, since they are more willing to go after meatier euros. Though they, too, will play some older classics and/or lighter games. We played some of these together, but many were titles I didn't see...or actively avoided. You can sort of follow along with the discussion by flipping back & forth between their two geeklists with 5-star ratings for the games they played at BGGcon.

It's your turn...to click here to send us your comments on the show

As Rob warms up as first player we bring you back another round of Niche Number 1's and we've got a brand new set of obscure and thinky questions.

FIRST PLAYER: Rob
OTHER PLAYERS: Becky, Kerley & Adrian

OVERVIEW
In this weeks episode, Rob continues the torch of Niche Number 1's which we started all those episodes ago and poses a brand new set of questions to the group.  In this episode you'll learn:

- Rob's thoughts on GRIDCON as he missed out on the expansion pack episode
- that not all heroes wear capes when Rob loses the tiniest boardgame component at a convention
- our group's first thoughts on ISS Vanguard as the Vanguardians of the Galaxy begin their space exploration
- which game is our favourite but we don't know why?
- what our favourite games are that never hit the table,
- which of the games we got rid of we regretted the most,
- our favourite game to lure non-gamers into the hobby,
- the game we were reluctant to play because of the box art that is now a favourite,
- what our favourite games are that puts us in a state of zen,
- our thoughts on a listener's question about Kickstarter regret and some of our thoughts on that subject.

Walker has yet to inform us what agenda the aliens are pursuing in Argentina during their relentless campaign of cow abduction. Do the alien overlords practise colonialism in the same way as their human counterparts? Do the inscrutable extraterrestrials differentiate between different humans, perhaps much as they differentiate between cows? Are their secret machinations behind the British East India Company as well? Walker, what are you hiding!

Episode 218: Tiletum, Dune, Monikers

29. November 2022 um 00:40

Finally, in Swear An Oath, Adrian played Dune, Jules explored another planet in Unsettled, but Dan didn't manage to get Call To Adventure: Epic Origins to the table. New oaths include Dune: The Audiobook (Adrian), teaching Brass: Birmingham (Jules, and teaching Marvel Champions (Dan).
