Welcome to Totally Decked, a series where I teach and play the best solo board games that use a standard deck of cards. This time I'm playing Card Capture: Robot Rebellion, a solitaire, deckbuilding card game by designer Lucas Gentry.
Card Capture is the winner of the best card game using a traditional deck of playing cards in the 2018 Solitaire Print and Play Game Design Contest.
Adam Porter and Rob Fisher, designers of Emberheart, sit down together and reminisce about the much darker origins of the game, challenging moments in development, and a very personal surprise!
This week, we're talking about 2026 and what the year ahead looks like board games. We'll talk about some anticipated games of ours, some trends we'd like to see start and stop and even each give a bold prediction for our hobby in 2026.
We're proudly sponsored by VICTORY PINTS, who specialize in board games and are located in our hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. They aim to have the best board game selection in the city and are also happy to special order you anything they don't have available! We've all been there on game night. What are we going to play? Today's video is for that very predicament! I've got 7 board games that might be a great way to kickstart a game night, get the ball rolling and either spur an idea of what you want your main event game to be, or maybe one of these games becomes your main event game!

What of the 3 types of board game psychographics are you? We liberally borrow from the MTG terms (from Mark Rosewater) of Timmy, Johnny, and Spike, then place them into a board game framework. So, we have to factor in types of board gaming like solo board gaming all the way to large group gaming like Social deduction. Also, how do genres of games like area controls fit into this discussion? Or perhaps popular board game youtubers like Dice Tower's Tom Vasel and Shut up and sit down from 2015?
Games mentioned: Patchwork, Twilight Imperium, Risk, Risk Legacy, Wingspan, Cosmic Encounter, Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, Arkham Horror LCG, Vantage, Ark Nova, Le Havre, Star Wars Rebellion, Brass Birmingham, Incan Gold

It's been about 4 years since we busted out this great solo experience and since it's snowing (yet again!!!), we can't do a multiplayer game tonight, this seems a great time to revisit this one...and in 4k now too!

So busy, so busy. I'll have to put off my next "how to play, etc" video, and instead take the opportunity to chat about my two favourite trick-taking games.
Oh Hell — which I actually have never played! — is an exact-bid trick-taker using a standard French-suited deck of cards. These two games add special cards to this excellent formula:
— Wizard adds special cards that (basically) guarantee to win or lose a trick
— Skull King adds more special cards, including ones that score points for catching other cards in the trick, and tweaks other things like making bids simultaneous for maximum casualness and chaos!
Both are classic, both are great.
(Hmm, seems I gave away the ending there.)

Tactical area control meets fantasy adventure in this card-driven cooperative game of animals against machines from the designer of PARKS and the creator of Bloc by Bloc.
Join your fellow animal defenders to clear pollution, fight mechs, breach walls, build camps, and rewild factories across a modular map that changes with each game. Play as one of four unique animal factions: the Council with its fortitude and bread, the Order with its wisdom of the flame, the Sect with its ingenious inventions, or the Coven with its spells and subterfuge. Can the defenders band together to heal the land and defeat the machine invasion? Or will the Commonwood succumb to an endless industrial winter? It’s up to you and your comrades to decide.
We review Re:MATCH, an asymmetrical 1v1 fighting game with marbles! You try to reduce your opponent’s credits to 0 first! In this arcade-styled MATCH3 game by Brother Ming Games, you will take a set of connected marbles on your turn to launch an attack! There are 3 colors of marbles for 3 colors of attack for each player. But every time you take marbles, you can set up your opponent accidentally! We cover 6 different variable player powers in this box, with more on the way! How does this Marble Puzzle compare to other direct conflict card and board games? The marbles in this kickstarter are not just a gimmick, but perhaps aren’t for everyone…
