Some board games are brilliant, and easy to recommend — but maybe not for everyone.
In this video, JG talks about one of the best board games he has played - Pax Pamir! A board game he absolutely loves, but one that may not work for every player. With shifting alliances, brutal decisions, and a highly interactive political system, this is a game that constantly creates tension and memorable moments.
This board game is clever, demanding, and deeply rewarding — but also the kind of experience that can divide opinions depending on what you want from a board game night.
👇 Have you played Pax Pamir? Love it or not for you?

We cover Exploding Kittens’ 10 year anniversary with the reprint of the card game and the exploding kittens board game! As well as 11 other entries, for a total of 13 games covered in this massive review! Admist all of the take that and hand management of these games, do have the depth we’d expect from our normal coverage of BGG games? In fact, the games are quirky with solid components, but their quality control with balance and rules may need some work. Still, there’s social strategy with alliances in something like Survivor: The Tribe Has Spoken, or educational elements in Monster Match! Just hope you don’t get eliminated too quickly in some of the longer ones! Even Tim Ferris and Jeff Probst are designers amongst all of these selections!
Other games featured: Flip 7, UNO, Throw Throw Burrito, Poetry for Neanderthals, Cards Against Humanity, Spoons, War, Codenames
Stuff Used:
Kevin Macleod — Professor and the Plant, Monkeys Spinning Monkeys, Adventures in Adventureland, Devonshire Waltz Allegretto, Grand Dark Waltz, Laconic Granny, Divertimento K131, Winner Winner, Farting Around, Casa Bossa Nova, Ambler, Dentaneosuchus Hunt, Goblin Tinker Soldier Spy, Starting Out Waltz Allegretto, Morning, Lords of the Rangs
For Arcade Mode Only: Play a single floor in a one shot session. No party sheet. You do use a race and class card (each player draws 3 and picks 1). Instead of drawing you can take the exact pairing mentioned on the back of your character portrait card. Follow the additional rules for your race and build your starting deck and tackle the floor! 🔥
"Dungeon Crawler Carl Unstoppable is a solo or 2-player co-op card-crafting deck-builder set in the World Dungeon. You’ll battle against neighborhood, borough, and city bosses while gearing up and leveling your chosen hero to survive and reach the next floor. Play solo or bring along your own Princess Donut for a co-op run!"
One light, one medium and one heavy solo game each episode. Can they top the current champions? The solo board game quest continues! Full video, with all 3 games, on our channel!

With Brass: Pittsburgh having just launched its crowdfunding campaign today, we thought it'd be a great time to revisit the two previous Brass games in all their 4k glory and its cousin: Age of Industry! And yes, we are doing a live-stream of Pittsburgh during the campaign. :)
So sit back and enjoy our play-through of Age of Industry, the game that needs a new edition (and more maps too)!

FYI: Mana begins at ‘2’.
11:40 The game is ‘set’ in the 18-floor World Dungeon of Dungeon Crawler Carl. The core will include these 3 based on the prototype to my knowledge.

This is a perfect example of the type of game that I had in mind when I created Heavy Cardboard. I've had my copy for YEARS, but have never been able to stream it due to the glossiness of the main board and such. But now with the new studio, we can finally feature the game and I think y'all are going to be glad we did (until you try to hunt down a copy)!

Hey friends! Today I am chatting all about HYVE! Print & play turned physical roll & write! Each turn you roll dice equal to your population. These rolled dice represent your worker bees. Using these bees, you select actions you wish to perform. All of your remaining bees are then used to gather nectar, building you a very colourful hyve. Struggle to stay alive against the constant threats of nature, and lead your colony from merely surviving to thriving. Enjoy the video friends!
Amazing thing is there is a huge range of different sheets with different game modes! ALL of the sheets in the legacy box are unique!!! The other Editions have even MORE game variety to explore. I'll also mention that the legacy game comes with a first "starter" non-legacy sheet, so you can learn the game first as a "trial run" before embarking on your first of 11 Legacies that are included in the game!

This core box covers the contents of Book 1 (Dungeon Crawler Carl) and Book 2 (Carl’s Doomsday Scenario) in the series. New rules will also allow you to play Unstoppable and Unstoppable (DCC) content against each other (no shuffling of core cards, upgrades etc. together of course).
Get an early look at Treeline, an upcoming board game from Christopher Chan, in this interview filmed at Breakout 2026. Christopher breaks down the game, talks about the new things happening at #KTBG and Burnt Island Games, and shares insight into what players can expect. We also talk about Familiar Spirits, including an early preview of that game as well.
If you like designer interviews, board game previews, and behind-the-scenes discussions about new tabletop games, this one’s for you.
I sometimes refer to Christopher as “Chris” during our chat - I was at the conference with another Chris, and my brother-in-law is also a Chris, so all Christophers become Chris to me over time. Sorry Christopher!
I continue my run through board games I've covered in old videos, attaching my ratings to each of them. But my rating system might be unique, I'm not sure. Most people would rate a game based on how good they think it is; BoardGameGeek's system is based on how much you want to play it. Me, I rate games based on how much I want to keep them in my collection.
(no stars) — I definitely don't want to keep this game and will actively try to get rid of it, and quickly.
⭐ — I can tell it's not for me and don't want to keep it, so I will actively try to trade or sell it. I probably wouldn't re-acquire it.
⭐⭐ — I like the game fine and don't mind to own it. I may or may not trade or sell it, for fair value, and if I do, I might or might not re-acquire it someday.
⭐⭐⭐ — I like this game quite a bit and would like to keep it. I wouldn't actively try to get rid of it, but would consider a generous offer to trade or sell it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ — I (or someone in my family) adores this game. I wouldn't consider getting rid of it, and expect it'll be in my collection a long, long time.
