The unofficial motto of SVWAG has always been, "stop trying to make fetch happen." Similarly, you can't just make up words out of thin air--it's not like they're holidays or anything that can be conjured ex nihilo (Happy Arkhipov Day!). What's an Arnak, anyway? Can you lose ruins of something that never existed? I suppose a fantasy is a good pretext to give us an arm's length distance from generations of pith-decked looters and graverobbers. Relatedly, Walker desperately wants to coin the term "Azteckian," but Mark's not having it.

In this politely 120th episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast Tom, Quinns and Ava grab themselves three microphones, one twitch chat, and a whole month of preparation to best beam podrays into your brain… LIVE!
Broadcast live and silly from AwSHUX 2020, this episode sees Ava and Tom delve into Mottainai and A Game of Thrones: The Board Game - the two very different boxes chosen for their respective application videos. Betwixt these two discussions we ramble about the infinite flowcharts of Combat Commander and Dominant Species, before settling on lighter fare with Legendary: A James Bond Deck Building Game - a box that asks the question: ‘what if bond(s)’? We then wrap up with brief, punchy chats about putting your friends into a bind in Oriflamme, and putting your kangaroos into buns in New York Zoo
We weren't going to let Kellen have the last word on what makes the perfect $100 collection, so the 139 squad is here to finish it out. Forgot the premise? You've lost all your board games, and only have $100 to rebuild it; what do you buy first? Before we make every penny count, we talk about Cosmic Encounter Duel, Hundreds of Horses, Billionaire Banshee, and Floor Plan.

Sarah, Def and Adrian are joined by Perth-based illustrator and graphic designer Ian O'Toole. Ian shares with us some of his experiences with Eagle-Gryphon Games, collaborating with Vital Lacerda, and offers some advice for those interested in illustrating board games.
In our Sizzling Games segment, Ian has been solving murders (or framing someone else!) in First Class: All Aboard The Orient Express, Def has fallen in love with Pipeline, Adrian has been dreaming of Steam Punk ever since he got to playtest Weather Machine, and Sarah has been card drafting and building castles in Between Two Castles of Mada King Ludwig
In the Board Game Bracket, we resolve Brass: Birmingham vs Mansions of Madness. And once Adrian stops talking about Mansions of Madness we can finally tee up our next battle: Cosmic Encounter vs Everdell.
Finally, in Swear An Oath, Def completed two oaths (Architects of the West Kingdom & D-Day The Dice Game) and swears an oath to play Clinic: Deluxe Edition, a game Ian worked on in 2019. And Ian gets in on the action by swearing to play Endangered and get it off his shelf of shame.

In honour of Arkhipov Day (October 27th--he saved your life or that of your forebears, he deserves a day), we turn to reflections of how games model war. Even themeless euros often include war as a convenient backdrop for the processing of cubes, so it is hardly restricted to one genre of gaming or another. That said, gaming is not unique--pretty much any medium can boast of a plethora of war narratives.
