#168 - The Heavy-sode Layer

29. Januar 2022 um 15:41

In this 3,000 pound episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Matt and Ava are wading into the quagmire of crunchy decisions, cold calculation and brain-burnin’. First, they’re rambling about the plains and pains of The Great Zimbabwe before letting their artistic side loose on The Gallerist. If by ‘artistic side’ you mean ability to manipulate the market value of a wonky sculpture.

Have a lovely weekend, folks!

27. Januar 2022 um 04:00
Jona Minotto, the One Pip Wonder, joins the show to share what she has learned about sustainability and eco-friendliness in board games. We have bad news for gamers, especially those of us who have gotten used to lots of pretty plastic chrome in our games. However, we end on a hopeful note and point to some ways forward. #198: 2021 Year in Review

Von: Pickaxe
25. Januar 2022 um 12:00
It's a star-studded eleganza extravaganza, featuring your two least-favourite SVWAG hosts giving you an incomplete capsule summary of a terrible year of great games. Of course, they neglected to play That One Game, of course, which means that all their observations are utterly useless, but how does that differentiate this episode from any other? This offering is more classy, however, as in a concession to the glitz and glamour of end-of-year shows, both hosts begrudgingly and uncharacteristically wear pants.
(You might be asking--is that "pants" in the British sense or the Canadian sense? The answer is yes.)

Games Played Last Week:
02:50 -Fossilis (David Alberto Diaz, Kids Table BG, 2020)

Episode 173: Special Guest – Tom Vasel! Plus Horrified, Black Sonata, Ark Nova and Bristol 1350

25. Januar 2022 um 00:55

Episode 173: Special Guest - Tom Vasel! Plus Horrified, Black Sonata, Ark Nova, and Bristol 1350 Nova

On this special episode Steve, Mike and Dan are joined by the man in the hat, Tom Vasel. He shares some stories from his early days of reviewing games, his experiences from the other side of the industry, and he answers an assortment of questions from our Patreons.

In our Sizzling Games segment Steve revisits the horrors of Horrified, Dan has been on the search for the Dark Lady in Black Sonata, Tom is still raving about the incredible Ark Nova, and Mike has been dodging the plague in Bristol 1350.

We launch the next match-up in the Bracket Battle 2.0: Teotihuacan vs Everdell. It's Steve vs Mike and they plead their case as to why their game is better (and Tom and Dan pile on as well!). To make sure your favourite goes through to the next round make sure you vote on our socials.

Finally in Swear an Oath, Steve is continuing to play every game in his collection, Mike has been playing Mystic Vale and is already intent on getting the expansion, and Dan played MicroMacro with his family of budding detectives. New oaths include a game of Teotihuacan with 5 expansions (Steve), The Prodigals (Mike), Radlands (Dan), and even Tom gets in on the Oath-swearing action.

You can find the Dice Tower YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/thedicetower

Their Kickstarter is currently running. Find out more information here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tomvasel/dice-tower-kickstarter-2022 (Ends Jan 29, 2022)
