#178 - Voices in the Walls

15. April 2022 um 19:56

In this semi-cooperative episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down podcast, Tom and Matt are talking about two very unusual games! First up is Voices In My Head's handsome-man-sentencing, followed by a small course of Decorum; a passive-aggressive living simulator. We also chat a few nice words about SHUX (and the carpets within) as well as Matt’s review of the Quacks expansion.

Have a great weekend, everybody!

#221: P-P-P-Party Questions

14. April 2022 um 08:45

It doesn't quite work the same, but what do you expect when Neilan's not present? Speaking of presents, it's Mark's birthday so the rest of the crew celebrate with a parade of (don't call them hot) questions, where they invent expansions, and save the planet. Before we get older, we talk about Time Barons, and The Key: Sabotage at Lucky Llama Land.

03:57 - Time Barons 13:37 - Hanabi Deluxe II 15:34 - The Key: Sabotage at Lucky Llama Land 28:06 - Beyond the Sun 30:57 - The Quest for El Dorado 32:38 - Biblios 33:32 - Pax Renaissance 36:54 - The Castles of Burgundy

#208: Agricola

Von: Pickaxe
12. April 2022 um 12:00
Yes, we are but slaves to the new releases, which is why we are reviewing a fifteen-year-old game. "But that's impossible!" you reply, "No one was alive back then!" Records are scant, but there is a rich oral tradition that people have been playing games at least since the release of Nirvana's Nevermind. Archeologists are still trying to carbon-date that period exactly, though.

Games Played Last Week:
01:39 -Dead Reckoning (John D. Clair, Alderac Entertainment Group, 2022)
08:14 -Cosmic Frog (Jim Felli, Devious Weasel Games, 2020)
09:54 -Familienbande (Leo Colovini, Winning Moves Germany, 2004)
13:23 -Barrage (Tommaso Battista & Simone Luciani, Cranio Creations, 2019)
16:04 -Cursed Court (Andrew Hanson, Atlas Games, 2017)
19:37 -Blockers! (Kory Heath, AMIGO, 2007)
21:48 -Dicke Dämonen (Heinrich Glumpler, Edition Erlkönig, 2004)
24:09 -New York Zoo (Uwe Rosenberg, Feuerland Spiele, 2020)
28:05 -Khmer (team SAIEN, Saien, 2010)
30:05 -Priests of Ra (Reiner Knizia, Rio Grande Games, 2009)

News (and why it doesn't matter):
32:26 Corvus Belli's (of Infinity fame) upcoming fantasy game: Warcrow
33:31 Pfister's Mombasa to become Skymines
34:13 New Cosmic Encounter expansion: Cosmic Odyssey
35:30 Walker's Who Asked for This? Fantasy Realms Marvel, and Deluxe Castles of Burgundy
36:48 Board game beat-em-up à la Golden Axe? Mythic Games' Anastyr
38:35 Through the Desert 25th Anniversary Edition from Steeped Games

39:50 Feature Game: Agricola (Uwe Rosenberg, Lookout Games, 2007) and Agricola (Revised Edition) (Uwe Rosenberg, Lookout Games, 2016)

#177 - Asymmetrical Arguing

08. April 2022 um 14:39

In this electric episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down podcast Tom and Quinns are going toe-to-toe in a battle for the ages, fighting the corner of the game that they like, and the other person… likes too… but less…

On this podcast we’re chatting about our lengthy first impressions of Crescent Moon and our much snappier first impressions of Bear Raid, as well as literally about 20 seconds of talking about the Mind MGMT app - so little, in fact, that I haven’t even timestamped it!

Have a great weekend, everybody!
