In this episode a shortage of available hosts sees Sarah and Def head once more unto the breach without any support from a 3rd host. They do so however with aplomb as they take us on a journey through Age of Steam, Frosthaven, Hegemony and Mists Over Carcassonne to name just a few of the games they discussed, but would you say any of these game designs are timeless?
We also recap last week's Question of the Pod: Which childhood cartoon would you like to see as a Board Game?
Thanks to everyone who contributed and shared their experiences with us on Discord and the Facebook Community.
And as always, we Swear An Oath.
Question of the Pod: What game do you think is a timeless design and why?
Sizzling Games: Hegemony (30:13), Mists Over Carcassonne (54:15)

Opener: Ark Nova...on BoardgameArena I feel like most of this year--really everything since BGGcon last November--has been about me embracing the fullness of this hobby in a post-pandemic way. Along with the realization that no one can really embrace ALL of it. There's just too much. I've simultaneously been maximizing my hobby and realizing the unavoidable limitations involved. This episode certainly fits that overall "story arc." In May I managed to play a lot of games with various friends in all sorts of settings: my local game group, on a business trip, at a Games Day, during a lunch hour at work, online in several ways, and more. Plus there's the extra parts of our hobby, like podcasts and magazines. Looking back, I feel like I did a LOT. Even so, I'm aware of the things I didn't do, because there's just so much time in a month. At least several of those opportunities were with a wider range of gaming friends, something that wasn't possible a year or two ago. Closer: Spiel des Jahres nominations and recommendations
Are we living in a golden age of board games? It's a simple question, but there's a lot to unpack - what even qualifies as a golden age, have we already had one, and if we are living in one, when does it end? Before we go for gold, we talk about That's Not a Hat, Pulsar 2849, and Barrage.

We are very proud of our strict editorial standards here at SVWAG. Among them is our firm stance on Monty Python references, which are very firmly circumscribed. Philosophers are mentioned all the time, but never the song; and similarly we discuss Mozart here (in two different media!) without any kind of passing gesture to his decomposition. People have tried to smuggle in other references to the show, but those responsible have been sacked.

In this episode we have a different combination of the Motor City Gameworks team join us, we can’t seem to get all 3 of them in the same place at the same time! We got to talk to them about their upcoming kickstarter French Quarter and how the game came to be. We decided to make them feel more at home and use one of the segments from their podcast with a top 3 list which was really fun.
We also catch up on last weeks Question of the pod “What are the benefits to solo gaming??”
