This is Episode Zero of a new video series Shelf Stories. Jason will review specific games though the lens of cultural critique, specifically what I call CASE - Cultural Appropriation, Stereotyping, and Erasure. In this show, Jason explains what he means by each of these contentious concepts. As always, the intention is toward being constructive and to initiate open, respectful dialogue.

Hey Now Cabalists! This audio is an update regarding my (Jamie) health and recovery, when the podcasts may return, the 2021 Kickstarter pledge manager, and a few stories of great things that happened during the past few months. Too Long, Didn't Listen? Here's the short version. My recovery is coming along. Still seeing doctors about some issues I’m having but we’re optimistic that we can get the issues cleared up soon. We’ll know in May if the treatment was completely successful, and the cancer is gone, or we need to do more work. We have a Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast recording sessions scheduled for this weekend and hope to begin releases the show again at the beginning of April. I’m easing back in and hope that I can make it work. Crossing fingers. Lords, Battletome and Express to come in the coming months. The 2021 Kickstarter Pledge Manager will be opening this week. Please keep an eye on your email for the link so you can close your pledge, select add-ons, make donations and Late Pledge. It’s Bill Shatner’s 91st birthday today and he had a small part in my cancer recovery (it was mostly my wife Melanie though).
Oceania Month continues on Episode 182 as Conor, Mitch and Adrian welcome Australian designer of The Ratcatcher and the upcoming Drop Bears: Matt Aslin. Matt shares with us where his inspiration comes from, his differing approaches to designing Solo and multiplayer games, and the team hypothesise what the next Australian myths might feature in Matt's next game...
Next the crew break down three of the categories from the upcoming Board Game BBQ Awards: Best Artwork, Best Expansion, and Game of the Year. You can find the link to the nomination form on all of our socials including Discord, Twitter, Instagram and on our Discord Community. Nominations are open to anyone in the community for three weeks. Facebook, Discord, Instagram, Twitter. Nominate in all 9 categories, or just a few. Once nominations close on Sunday 27th then we take the most-nominated game in each category and they become the official nominees for the BBQ Awards. Then we hand it over to our esteemed panel of judges; our Patreons; to vote. And this will all culminate in the BGBBQ Awards Night which once again will be filmed for YouTube, and we hope to have some surprises on the show as well.
In the Board Game Bracket we settle the last match-up, Crokinole vs A Feast For Odin, before we cue up the next battle: Aeon's End vs Root. To make sure your favourite goes through to the next round make sure you vote on our socials.
Finally, in Swear An Oath, Adrian smashed it out of the park on Hadrian's Wall during the week, but still hasn't played Lord of the Rings: Journeys In Middle Earth. Mitch really enjoyed the small-box game Harsh Shadows, and Conor got Zapotec to the table as well. New oaths include painting more Kingdom Death Monster minis (Adrian), Marvel United: X-Men (Mitch), and Dead Reckoning (Conor).

---AUDIO DISCLAIMER--- Let's face it in our earlier episodes our audio isn't up to scratch (it gets better we promise)
Welcome to "Whose Turn Is It Anyway", a podcast all about our gaming group where we talk about board games, gaming culture and much much more.
FIRST PLAYER: JP OTHER PLAYERS: Rob, Ian, Becky, Kerley
OVERVIEW In this intro episode "First Player" JP is joined by our other players "Rob, Ian, Becky & Kerley" to introduce the show and how future episodes will be broken down. In this episode you'll learn more about our players such as:
- how JP has set-up a board gaming cult and became a catalyst for everyone getting involved in board gaming mainly for selfish reasons - why Rob really really really loves Captain Sonar "hmmmmmm" - Ian's recognition that his competitiveness & lack of tactical ability isn't a great combination in games - why Becky hates the learning process in games - Kerley's prime directive from being 10 years old to take down his opposition with no mercy
Do you love board games? Do you want to be part of our gaming group?
Then welcome to Whose Turn Is It Anyway, we put our gaming group right at the heart of the show. Each episode we talk about the games that hit our tables. We answer your burning questions and of course we cover the board game topics that you want to hear about
With a rotating first player structure you get plenty of variety. So if this sounds right up your street and thank you in advance for listening.
Check us out on www.whoseturn.co.uk or on your favourite podcast player of choice and until then, see you at the table.
In this week's episode I talk to the head of Smirk and Dagger, Curt Covert. We talk about playing Axis and Allies in Hollywood, take that and why deckbuilders are great...but which games did he choose? Support the show here Clank The Quacks of Quedlinburg Chess Red7 SHOBU
In this sluggish episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom and Quinns are fresh off the back of two games - one a box of unison and joy; the other a lump of conflict and discontent. We’re talking about Gugong and it’s expansion - Panjun - as well as Lizard Wizard! But which is the belle of the ball, and which is the slob of the swamp? Find out… right here!
There is a joy as equal in receiving a game, as moving it onto another person to enjoy. Especially, if you're Mark, when there's cash involved. We reflect on the many games that got left behind recently. Before we purge, we talk about Imperial Steam, Circus Flohcati, and Dogs of War.
