It doesn't happen as much as it does in other industries, but every so often the people at the top demand serialization. We're talking about sequels in board games, when they work, when they (super) don't, and what we'd like to see get the treatment. Before we get franchised, we talk about Next Station: London, Dawn of the Zeds (Third Edition), and Azul: Queen's Garden.

Ben Rosset, designer of The Search for Planet X, talks about how to design games based on real-life systems and processes. Ben has designed games based on aging cheese, brewing beer, finding planets, manufacturing board games, and many other themes that happen in the real world, so we have quite a bit to chat about.
On Mark's drive across Canada (the first time), he stopped in Drumheller, Alberta for some dinosaur tourism. It has a truly impressive nodosaur specimen. The nodosaur is a close relative of the ankylosaur, a key difference being the former's lack of a thagomizer, the club-like appendage at the end of an ankylosaur's tail. Mark bought a plastic ankylosaur as a souvenir. Its name is Angie. Perseverance doesn't have any ankylosaurs or nodosaurs. A shame.

In this apparently aquatic episode of the Shut Up & Sit Down Podcast, Tom, Ava, and Matt are talking about some suspiciously dry games! And spinners. And Twister.
First up is Khora: Rise of an Empire - the ultimate spreadsheet experience! Tom then rambles about Boonlake for a moment, before Ava takes us home with Founders of Teotihuacan; the game which we essentially forgot to have a discussion about.
Ambie and Crystal discuss a couple games they played recently, including Hidden Leaders and Get on Board: New York & London. We then reminisce about the past 6 years of Board Game Blitz and celebrate our 6 year podcast anniversary!

Metagaming is all about the game that exists within (and without) the game - it's everything that's not written in the rules. Whether that's something that emerges at your table, or in the community at large, it can be a big part of the social experience, and we're all for it. Before we get meta, we talk about Rum & Pirates, Box One, Shamans, and Crescent Moon.
Today we have our great friend Rodney Smith of Watch It Played kicking off the show with a guest announce, and I gotta say, he goes an amazing job! Then the Founders confront Don about his sleeving mental issues and continue with a dive into a mess of games they've been getting into including Horrified American Monsters, Foundations of Rome, Cuphead The Fast Rolling Dice Game, Roll Through the Ages: The Bronze Age, Roll Through the Ages: The Iron Age, Era: Medieval Age, Gaia Project, and Cryptid: Urban Legends. After Jamie gives a little health update, he and Don crack open Boonlake from Alexander Pfister and Capstone Games for a feature review. Tony T, once again, wows the people with his fine upstanding journalism skill and news delivery skills. Then finally the gang talks about games designs that have gone through an evolutionary period over time. Boonlake Overview 01:10:22, Boonlake Review 01:14:06, News with Tony T 01:42:58, Evolution of Game Designs 02:36:12
